Deluxe 6000 Grit Japanese Water Stone with Stand
This product is unavailable
Synthetic sharpening "stone" made from compacted silicates. Work with water not oil for more efficient sharpening and less mess. 100% uniform particle size so grit can be controlled.
Includes a "Nagura Stone". A small specialized conditioning stone used in Japanese knife tool sharpening. Traditionally used with 4000 grit and higher stones and serves three main purposes:
1.Creates a Slurry: Rubbing the Nagura on your main waterstone creates a muddy paste (slurry). This speeds up the polishing process, refines the edge, and helps remove burrs
2.Cleans the Whetstone: As you sharpen, tiny metal shavings (swarf) get embedded in your stone, causing it to "glaze over" and cut less efficiently. The Nagura stone lifts these particles away.
3.Corrects Unevenness: The word nagura translates to "correcting" in Japanese. You can use it to selectively wear down high spots or flatten a dishing surface on your main stone.
